How long is each session?

Each session is one hour, though we have found that many students respond better to longer blocks, up to two hours. Though we recommend a 1.5 hour lesson to include plenty of time for exercises and recap, our basic lesson session is one hour long. Younger students may be better served by shorter blocks, but transit times can present a challenge in managing these shorter blocks. We typically suggest working with your tutor to help determine the optimal lesson times for your student and schedules.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, including American Express, Discover, Visa, and Mastercard. We do not accept any other methods at this time, including cash or checks, as we keep the card on file in case of cancellations, no-shows, or other issues. This makes the process seamless- you never need to worry about handling payments with the tutors, and all payments are handled through the main office, typically billed 24 hours before a lesson, or immediately in the case of a package purchase.

What neighborhoods do you service?

Anything within reach of the MTA- including Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and The Bronx.

Where do you tutor?

Most of our tutoring takes place in the student’s home. If the student is a minor, an adult must be present at all times. Libraries and quiet coffee shops are also suitable options, and we’re happy to suggest locations, but additional fees may apply.

Do you offer online or phone tutoring?

Many of our tutors offer online VoIP, Skype, or videochat tutoring options at a significant discount to our normal rates. These sessions are handled separately and are more flexible. We do not offer over-the-phone tutoring, as we’ve found it to be generally unsuccessful.

Can you tutor groups?

Generally, no. However, in the case of family members (such as a twin), we can make exceptions, though pricing may be subject to change. We’ve found that one-on-one tutoring offers the best results for most students.

Can I request specific tutors?

Certainly. We will endeavor to find the best fit for the subject matter, neighborhood, and schedule, but are happy to make special arrangements upon request.

Will you assign homework? Do you have study sheets?

Most students have a sufficient amount of homework already! But in many cases, we’ll follow up on assignments, and potentially offer additional materials for practice outside of lessons.

Do you offer any referral bonuses?

Absolutely! If you are a current client, and a new client lists you as a referral – and purchases four or more lessons – we’ll offer you one hour for free.
